United Kingdom Orders ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ for COVID Patients with Learning Disabilities (or Then They Came For Me And There Was No One Left To Speak Out For Me)
/The temerity the UK medical community (and apparently the silent consent of the UK government itself) in light of this edict is the height of recklessness. I think it would be safe to assume (since the incidence of learning disabilities in the population ranges roughly from 2.0 to 10 percent or more https://www.ldao.ca/introduction-to-ldsadhd/articles/about-lds/learning-disabilities-statistics/)) that a significant amount of the UK medical community (who have children) may be affected be the very rule they are charged with enforcing. Who’s next?
Perhaps this short poem by Martin Niemöller is a ballad whose time has come. Again.
‘First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.’
