Rural King sent me a brief and excellent email this morning about Labor Day. Usually a retailer sends emails around the holidays to get you to come into their stores or go online and buy something. Not Rural King.

Today I got a simple communication from the company to this effect:

The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands.’….(Deuteronomy 2:7a)

Let’s take today to thank the workers of America, and celebrate their contribution and achievements. To the men and women who are working hard to provide for their families and country, thank you.

I went and looked at the full scripture in Deuteronomy. It actually is Gods’ reminder that all during the 40 years of Israel wondering in the wilderness, The Lord was always with them, never left them and provided for them all that they needed.

“For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.” (Deuteronomy‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭KJV)

During this time of food shortages, sharply rising fuel prices and inflammatory rhetoric from the highest office in the land, let us remember: If we trust the God of the Bible expressed in His son Jesus Christ as our Savior to protect and provide for us through His blessings if we are obedient to His commands -HE will see us through the troubles that are coming. And of course we must work while we can because in the words of Jesus…’“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John‬ ‭9:4‬ KJV‬‬). This applies to the spiritual/eternal and the preparedness needed for you and your family in the style of Noah and Joseph (read Genesis 37-Genesis 50).

Self-professed Catholic couple: We’d rather go to hell than give birth to our disabled baby

These parents apparently do not know the will and grace of God. I pray that the Lord opens their eyes to see His will. All they apparently know is what they can see in this world. The blessings of caring for the disabled are many even though the amount of work and sacrifice can be at times overwhelming in the case of a catastrophic illness which this child’s case may or may not be.

The point of failure in this kind of logic is that many of us at some time in our life will be helpless because of illness, accident or infirmity. Then the shoe will be on the other foot. When you are on your bed of sickness and someone makes a decision on your behalf that your life is not with living because of your disability, you will probably will have a different opinion.

The Word of God says this:

“Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
